Red-Shouldered Stink Bug Nymph

This is a nymph form of a common stink bug native to North America belonging to the "true bug" order. The insect will go through several molts between its egg and adult stage. When threatened or harmed, the red-shouldered stink bug will release a foul odor from glands located on the underside of the thorax in adults and on the top side of the abdomen in nymphs.
