Honey Bee

Apis mellifera

This is a sterile female worker honey bee, whose role includes cleaning and building honeycomb, guarding the hive, and foraging for food. Honey bees were originally imported to the US in the 1600s to aid with agriculture. They are one of the most important pollinators and can be found on every continent except Antarctica.
