Green Lacewing larval stages last for 2-3 weeks when the larva will spin a silken cocoon on leaves or bark where it will complete its transition to its adult form. They are colloquially known as "aphid lions" due to their voracious appetites, having been known to consume hundreds of garden pests including aphids, spire mites, thrips, whiteflies, mealybugs, and small caterpillars. They are frequently used in integrated pest management as a natural, chemical-free defense.
